DeepL survey: 84% of professionals across the UAE and Saudi Arabia embrace AI translation tools

Dubai, UAE - December 11, 2024 - According to a recent survey by DeepL, a leading global language AI company, 84% of professionals in the UAE and Saudi Arabia have integrated artificial intelligence (AI) translation tools into their workflows. Conducted to understand the increasing integration of AI-driven language technologies within organizations, the research highlights DeepL’s alignment with market needs and its commitment to innovation in the Language AI space.

- Professionals are achieving more with AI translation tools: Businesses are increasingly taking advantage of AI-driven tools to enhance productivity. These tools are mostly applied to developing new language skills (UAE: 52%; KSA: 51%), boosting efficiency and saving time (UAE: 50%; KSA: 51%), and managing supplier relationships (UAE: 45%; KSA: 47%).
- Expanding into new markets: As the region continues to see an increase in global interactions, the adoption of AI language tools is essential. 46% of professionals in the UAE and KSA reported that AI translation tools have helped them expand their business into new markets. With the UAE home to over 200 nationalities*, businesses that adopt AI translation tools not only gain a competitive edge by being more responsive in international markets, but local markets as well.
- Accuracy remains key in AI translation: More than half (59%) of professionals in the UAE and KSA have been encouraged to incorporate AI translation tools in the workplace. However, despite the widespread adoption, professionals express that there are certain challenges of using AI translation tools: concerns over accuracy are at the forefront (UAE: 51%; KSA: 56%), followed by verbatim translations (UAE: 48%; KSA: 49%), indicating that there is a need for enhancing contextual nuance.

Methodology
Commissioned by DeepL, the research was conducted by Censuswide, among a sample of 2001 professionals in full time or part time employment aged 23-50 in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The data was collected between 19.11.2024 – 25.11.2024. Censuswide abide by and employ members of the Market Research Society which is based on the ESOMAR principles.
