The future of Language AI just landed at DeepL Dialogues

DeepL’s first-ever customer conference was a celebration of everything our Language AI has become, and the amazing community of users we have grown. Even more importantly, it was a deep dive into where the DeepL platform is headed as we reach an inflection point in AI strategy for enterprise organizations.

At the conference, we heard how DeepL is developing a Language AI platform that does much more than deliver the world’s best machine translations. It’s driven by a relentless commitment to finding new ways of helping the world communicate better.

In the last year alone, we’ve launched next-generation LLM models that deliver higher-translation quality than any competitive AI; DeepL Write, which helps people write with greater confidence in their preferred language; and a new glossaries generator, which makes it easier than ever for organizations to take control of translations, with consistent terminology that builds brands, drives engagement, and generates revenue.

And as we demonstrated at DeepL Dialogues, this rate of development is only accelerating. From the main stage, we announced some major product advancements that are set to empower employees and transform the way businesses communicate.

Top 5 highlights from DeepL Dialogues

For those of you who weren’t able to join us last week, here are five key highlights from the event:

1. DeepL Voice gives you transcriptions in your preferred language in real-time!

There were huge cheers in the main hall when our VP of Product, Christopher Osborne, announced the launch of DeepL Voice, which delivers instant transcriptions in your preferred language—as someone speaks in theirs. When Christopher asked the audience how many of them had struggled with language barriers in virtual or face-to-face meetings, the unanimous show of hands was a strong signal that this product will be a major breakthrough for our customers.

As DeepL’s Director of Product Justyna Walkowska explained, our Language AI’s deep contextual awareness and grasp of language structures enables it to anticipate where a sentence is likely to go from its first few words.

DeepL can also judge how likely it is that the initial meaning of a sentence will change as somebody continues speaking. This capability enables DeepL Voice to judge the optimal moment to display translated copy: while a person is still constructing their sentence, but at the point when their meaning is genuinely clear. It delivers this as real-time copy in every participant’s preferred language, empowering them to engage, clarify, and fully contribute to virtual meetings. It can also revert to change the translation if a phrase takes an unexpected turn.

2. Deploying the new NVIDIA SuperPOD at EcoDataCenter means DeepL’s rate of innovation will increase exponentially

What will DeepL be like in 2025? According to DeepL’s VP - Research, Stefan Mesken, NVIDIA Senior Solutions Architect, Thomas Schoenmeyer, and EcoDataCenter CEO, Peter Michelson, the answer is simple: the platform will be faster, more accurate, and more adaptable, with an exponential growth in capabilities. That’s thanks to DeepL being the first organization in Europe to deploy the new NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with DGX GB200 Systems—the most advanced supercluster in the world. It delivers a step-change in AI performance through its Blackwell GPU chips and significant improvement in energy efficiency, thanks to its liquid cooling system.

It's the close collaboration between DeepL, NVIDIA, and EcoDataCenter that made our early deployment of the new SuperPOD possible. Crucially, EcoDataCenter anticipated next-generation supercomputers’ need for liquid cooling, and installed the necessary infrastructure ahead of time. Together, this AI trifecta is focused on anticipating where AI is headed, in order to keep DeepL’s Language AI models ahead of the curve.

3. We’re just getting started finding new ways of connecting colleagues, enabling inclusion, and supporting wellbeing

New York Times bestselling author Erin Meyer’s captivating keynote session perfectly illustrated there’s more to better communication than just knowing what words mean. Her book, The Culture Map, explores eight dimensions of communication—eight ways in which the approach of different cultures varies.

These dimensions shape people’s expectations of how clearly things need to be spelled out; how direct negative feedback should be; and how comfortable they are with silence. As Erin explained, the further apart different cultures are, the greater the potential for misunderstanding. For international businesses, understanding these gaps nurtures more inclusive cultures that value what each employee has to offer and make it easier for them to contribute.

By delivering precise translations at the speed with which people speak, DeepL Voice will ensure that each individual has the same opportunity to contribute. It makes it easier to accommodate the many cultures that like to pause for reflection before responding to a comment, by ensuring that everyone is experiencing the conversation at the same speed. As Language AI’s capabilities increase, there will be many more opportunities to add context and clarification, helping colleagues connect effectively and build productive relationships.

4. We’ve reached another inflection point in enterprise adoption of AI

It was just two years ago that the arrival of generative AI triggered a race for adoption across enterprise organizations. As DeepL’s CEO, Jarek Kutylowski, explained in his keynote, we’ve already reached another inflection point: those businesses are no longer asking whether they should adopt AI, but which form of AI will generate real business value. For a rapidly growing number of organizations, the answer is Language AI.

As Jarek pointed out, the current revolution in AI wasn’t kick-started by self-driving cars or AI models controlling people’s lives, but by language capabilities. Today, it’s language that delivers the clearest and quickest route to value for enterprises because it empowers their most valuable asset: their people. It also represents one of the most powerful ways in which they can meet evolving customer expectations.

Jarek was joined onstage by Derick Fajardo, Associate Director Multilingual Services for Harvard Business Publishing, who explained how language is becoming crucial to international competitiveness—and how localization is increasingly a C-suite priority.

5. The value of what can be measured, and the greater value of what can’t

Throughout DeepL Dialogues, we heard customer after customer talking about the transformational impact that Language AI is having for their business.

  • REWE Digital’s Product Owner for Knowledge Management, Mareike Heidemann-Jarosch, spoke about the huge uplift in productivity that comes from the ability to onboard international employees quickly, and the improvement in employee wellbeing that comes with the confidence they gain from DeepL Write.
  • Brioche Pasquier’s International Coordinator, Christine Aubry, discussed DeepL Voice’s immediate impact on enabling more inclusive meetings, with the switch from passive to active listening empowering employees to contribute freely in their preferred language.
  • KBC Bank’s Language Center Lead, Christiaan Philipsen, spoke about how many of the most valuable contributions of Language AI (mitigating the risks of miscommunication, or avoiding secure data leaking through non-secure translation tools) don’t show up in simple ROI calculations. Even when strictly focusing on the measurable efficiency gains of translation, though, he calculates that DeepL delivers an annual ROI of 45% for his business.

Stories like these help to keep the DeepL Language AI platform moving forward. As Jarek explained, DeepL’s innovation has always been customer-driven. It’s where we get the inspiration for pushing the boundaries with solutions like DeepL Voice or launching DeepL Write to meet our customers’ need for better writing assistance in their preferred language.

These industry-leading advancements will only continue as DeepL’s capacity to innovate accelerates. And we’re looking forward to continuing to celebrate our customers’ achievements at many more DeepL Dialogues in the years to come!
